Research has been sponsored by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), from the period 2001-2004. Dr. Smith is the sole PI for this grant.


Optimization Methods for Routing Problems on Networks with Stochastic Failures

This research is sponsored by the Office of Naval Research (ONR), from the period 2003 - 2006. Dr. Smith was awarded this grant was obtained under the Young Investigator Program.


Predicting and Prescribing Human Decision Making Under Uncertain and Complex Scenarios

This research is sponsored by the Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR), beginning in 2003 and continuing through 2006 or 2008. Dr. Smith is the PI for this grant, along with six fellow Co-PIs from Systems and Industrial Engineering (Ron Askin, Terry Bahill, Judy Jin, Suvrajeet Sen, Young-Jun Son, Ferenc Szidarovszky) and two Co-PIs from Management and Policy (Terry Connolly, Amnon Rapoport).
