In the Systems Engineering Department at the University of Arizona, our students use the Unified Modeling Language (UML) tools throughout their stay in our department. They start in the lower level classes and use them right through the Senior Design projects. At various times we have used Rational Rose® and Enterprise Architect® as UML support tools. Here are some projects that have used the UML.
In SIE-554a The Systems Engineering Process, Terry Bahill constructs a skeleton of a solution for his class project. He incrementally displays example portions of his design documentation for the fall 2006 project, the Spin Coach.
Here is a set of student documents for the analysis model for the Spin Coach system that was written for SIE-454/554a in the fall of 2006.

The primary purpose of SIE-577, System Design Using the Unified Modeling Language, was to teach modeling using mthe Unified Modeling Language (UML) and its Systems Engineering extensions (SysML). We used Enterprise Architect® (EA) as a support tool.
For the class project in the Spring of 2006, Bahill wrote a product position statement and a portion of the Umpire's Assistant documents. Students in the class created the following documents:
We also have a master's project written by Vidhya.
